chrix Posted January 28, 2010 at 08:57 PM Author Report Posted January 28, 2010 at 08:57 PM Another newspaper I've been following for their international coverage recently, Singtao from Singapore: (it's all in Simplified ) The language they use is quite easy to follow, though haven't come across any in-depth reporting yet, but enough to give me inspiration for the News-related word of the day thread... Guest Qui2qui Posted February 12, 2010 at 01:24 PM Report Posted February 12, 2010 at 01:24 PM I remember that two years ago I could download current and previous issues of 人民日报 from their site. Now I just can't find that option. However, there's a paid registration (supposedly, for getting newspaper in PDF). Hence, the question: do they now charge for accessing the PDF version? Just curious. If there's still a free option, please give me a link. Quote
Luxi Posted June 22, 2018 at 11:36 AM Report Posted June 22, 2018 at 11:36 AM Reviving an old thread. Searching for alternatives to the tired and tiresome 人民日报 of my student days and other major newpapers and online news sources, I recently came across this newspaper: https://www.thepaper.cn/ It's called simply: "The Paper" (澎湃) and is published by Shanghai Oriental Press Co. https://www.thepaper.cn/about_paper.jsp I find it very readable: it has a nice clean interface (no adds, no deranged animations!); covers a wide variety of topics including local/regional and international news, economy, lifestyle, media, books & arts etc.; has moderate length articles; is quite well written and is even humorous in parts. Note: There's at least one more newspapers' thread with suggestions and links in the Forums: https://www.chinese-forums.com/forums/topic/8774-good-chinese-newspaper/?tab=comments#comment-68360 2 Quote
sekkar Posted June 22, 2018 at 12:09 PM Report Posted June 22, 2018 at 12:09 PM When it comes to regular newspapers I mostly read 自由時報,it's not great, but I find it a good way to keep up to date with news from Taiwan. I also quite like buzzorange, especially their tech section. It's a lot less dry than a regular paper. The "life" section of the website is very fluffy and clickbaity though. Quote
Luxi Posted July 6, 2024 at 10:02 AM Report Posted July 6, 2024 at 10:02 AM Posting links to a couple of articles published by ThePaper on the results of the general election in Britain, which I think are well written and full of useful vocabulary and expressions. 八年六任首相“走马灯”,斯塔默能收拾英国“烂摊子”吗? 斯塔默带领英国工党时隔14年重新执政:能否重启增长? (Interestingly, both articles end in a question mark, I share the feelings) 1 Quote
