one_night_in_BJ Posted December 2, 2009 at 02:44 AM Report Posted December 2, 2009 at 02:44 AM Christmas is coming up and I'd like to hear what resources, books, software, technology, subscriptions are on your wish list. I need some ideas to give to mum and dad. They haven't given me a max cost, but I imagine anything over €150/1500RMB/$200 is off limits. LOL. I'm about a 3 or 4th semester level at the uni. Thanks!!! gato Posted December 2, 2009 at 07:52 AM Report Posted December 2, 2009 at 07:52 AM If you are going to get an electronic dictionary, I would go for PlecoDict. It's better than anything else on the market. It does require a Palm OS/Windows-based Mobile PDA/phone, but the investment is well worth it if you are serious about Chinese. See http://www.pleco.com/screenshots.html Quote

Kai13 Posted December 11, 2009 at 07:22 AM Report Posted December 11, 2009 at 07:22 AM I need some advices too. I'm about to buy a smartphone, probably an android, but I'm still not sure. I want an android because it runs anki but I also like windows mobile. The only android I can buy for now (HTC Magic) does not have a physical keyboard, and that kinda scares me. So I'm open to other sugestions. Does WM run Anki? I believe it doesn't |: Does Android have good dictionaries? And other good applications? What useful applications does WM have for studying mandarin chinese and japanese? Are the appications offline? What smartphone would you recommend? I can spend 300€.(I believe that's 400$+) Any help would be appreciated Quote
