sagech Posted December 3, 2009 at 11:05 AM Report Posted December 3, 2009 at 11:05 AM Hello there, Are there any software that allows one to type Chinese characters stroke by stroke? See the picture below to get what I mean: http://www.chinese-outpost.com/language/images/characters/ORDR.GIF I want to be able to type each individual stokes out. Quote
elliott50 Posted December 4, 2009 at 09:07 AM Report Posted December 4, 2009 at 09:07 AM Certainly the wenlin combined chinese text editor and dictionary look up tool lets you do this very successfully (www.wenlin.com). I have successfully used handwritten chinese input on windows vista (and I understand windows 7 has it too) though you may need to pay for a more professional version of the OS. Both of the above work well with a pen+tablet instead of a mouse. Alternatively, on a Mac, the Snow Leopard system has a pretty good character recognition system built in. There is also a way of mapping each type of character stroke to a key and then using them in combination - WUBI (I think) but I have not used it. Quote
Hero Doug Posted December 4, 2009 at 09:11 AM Report Posted December 4, 2009 at 09:11 AM Your phone might use stroke input as well (my last two Nokia's did). If you're looking to practice stroke order it might be a good way to kill some time while waiting around. Quote
sagech Posted December 4, 2009 at 09:51 AM Author Report Posted December 4, 2009 at 09:51 AM Thanks for the replies! I am sorry if I have misworded my previous post. What I meant was, are there any software that can generate a sequence of strokes, stroke-by-stroke, that makes up a chinese character? This is for the purpose of creating worksheets. Quote
AdamD Posted December 4, 2009 at 11:36 AM Report Posted December 4, 2009 at 11:36 AM http://www.eon.com.hk/estroke/ I use the iPhone version regularly. It's marvellous. Edit: Mmmm, I don't know if the PC/Mac version can help you with worksheets. Quote
