SunDaYu Posted December 6, 2009 at 02:18 PM Report Posted December 6, 2009 at 02:18 PM For some reason, I tend to get sick a lot in China. I was sick for nearly the first 2 months I was here, the entire 3 weeks I was vacationing in Beijing (stupid pollution >.<), and I just got sick with a high fever two days ago...and I was sick two weeks ago too. On average I get sick at least 2 times a month, usually serious enough to confine me to my room. Yeah, so, I've come to the conclusion that China hates me Anyone else have it this bad here? Your thoughts with dealing with it? I'm just taking huge doses of the MMS protocol and it clears up after a few days, but it's still really disruptive. Quote
abcdefg Posted December 6, 2009 at 06:39 PM Report Posted December 6, 2009 at 06:39 PM A bit more clinical information would be good unless you are just blowing off steam and don't really want any opinions or advice. Quote
taylor04 Posted December 6, 2009 at 08:33 PM Report Posted December 6, 2009 at 08:33 PM I had quite a few colds, and get mono in China. I think the big things are possibly the viruses being different and your body not being used to them (just a guess) and the fact that there are so many people that can spread it Quote
xuechengfeng Posted December 6, 2009 at 09:38 PM Report Posted December 6, 2009 at 09:38 PM My stomach couldn't get used to the food and for awhile, I had a nagging cough from the pollution. Quote
gerri Posted December 7, 2009 at 12:01 AM Report Posted December 7, 2009 at 12:01 AM Stomach problems every once in a while, but hardly anything else (fewer, less strong, colds than in Eastern Europe). Sorry. I cook Chinese, myself, and that seems to help more than a lot with (especially stomach) health. Supposedly, I'm in one of the more polluted (rural) areas... I'd wonder if it's really China, or if there is something else in the background (I mean, if someone had a predisposition to develop asthma, and got to China, it would likely turn full-fledged...) AxelManbow Posted December 7, 2009 at 02:26 AM Report Posted December 7, 2009 at 02:26 AM I never get flus, do not get coughs and rarely get a cold. Because I only ever drink hot water. Quote
wushijiao Posted December 7, 2009 at 02:54 AM Report Posted December 7, 2009 at 02:54 AM Nothing will improve your immune system better than eating massive amounts of fruits and vegetables per day (regardless of where you live). Also, having some plants (such as spider plants) in your home/office may not be a bad idea, since they can help breathe out oxygen and filter toxins out of the air. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/3344073/Eco-plants-that-gobble-up-toxins.html Quote

SunDaYu Posted December 7, 2009 at 04:52 AM Author Report Posted December 7, 2009 at 04:52 AM Well, I'm all better now That MMS stuff is a miracle cure, I swear! Had a 100.6 temp last night, woke up this morning with 98.6. Kickass! I'm not blowing off steam. I just find it interesting how I get sick here so much and was curious to what other people have experienced. I have seen a physician a few times. I went to one for chest pain and got an x-ray for 30 kuai (kickass!), but it really freaks me out when everyone is SMOKING while they are examining me. It really makes me glad that they are not sticking me with anything, I bet the needles aren't so clean. I think I will start eating more fruits here. I was scared to eat them because I had a friend who got a parasite from one and had to be flown back to America, but if I guess that's a risk I'll have to take to avoid getting sick so much. Thanks for the advice! Thinking back, the first time I was in China I was near the mountains in a small village eating food with a host family everyday. Now I'm in a much larger city living in a dorm eating out everyday, so I guess the viruses and germs are only now starting to really hit me. Quote
taylor04 Posted December 7, 2009 at 04:54 AM Report Posted December 7, 2009 at 04:54 AM Sounds like one of those freak accidents, something that can happen anywhere in the world... Quote
Erbse Posted December 7, 2009 at 09:35 AM Report Posted December 7, 2009 at 09:35 AM I went to one for chest pain and got an x-ray for 30 kuai (kickass!) I don't know where you have been, but Chinese often x-rays are bought from the west. Those machines are no longer in use in the West because of their killing high dosages, but they are okay for the general public of China. After I got an x-ray in China I researched this. These machines could give you the dosage of radiation that is the maximum healthy dosage for several years according to modern western medical standards. I really hope you got x-rayed by a modern machine, otherwise it really might kick your ass for 30 kuai! Not so kickass after all... Quote
SunDaYu Posted December 7, 2009 at 09:39 AM Author Report Posted December 7, 2009 at 09:39 AM Wow! I didn't not know that. I'll keep that in mind then the next time I go to the hospital. Thanks for the tip! Quote
周易Joey Posted December 7, 2009 at 09:53 AM Report Posted December 7, 2009 at 09:53 AM Yeah, I've had a lot of x-rays in China, and in the States they give you that lead to wear over your body but not in China. Really scary:conf Quote
valikor Posted December 7, 2009 at 11:12 AM Report Posted December 7, 2009 at 11:12 AM I think my x-ray was less than 30 kuai. I wish I hadn't read this post. I'll second the OP's experience. Maybe we're allergic to China. Quote

lintsaihai Posted December 7, 2009 at 12:30 PM Report Posted December 7, 2009 at 12:30 PM Maybe moving to more human-friendly places like Taiwan would help? At least air-pollution isn't so bad, and people know manners... Quote

niels Posted December 9, 2009 at 06:10 AM Report Posted December 9, 2009 at 06:10 AM In the Netherlands we also don't use lead. The key is to make sure you don't take too many x-rays to begin with ;-) It's quite affordable to use other methods like MRI in China. I had one in Bejing which was less than $100 - well within what most US/EU insurances cover. Quote

scottishlaura Posted December 9, 2009 at 02:14 PM Report Posted December 9, 2009 at 02:14 PM The first year my husband lived in the UK he caught every cough, cold, sniffle going. After that he returned to his normal uber-healthy self. So maybe it just takes a while for your body to develop a resistance to all the new bugs its being exposed to? Upping your Vitamin C intake wouldn't hurt, nor would spending some time outside every day. Hope you stay better for longer this time. Quote
