blink Posted December 6, 2009 at 04:01 PM Report Share Posted December 6, 2009 at 04:01 PM Hi. I want to give a friend of mine a chop/seal for the holidays. He doesn't already have a Chinese name and I could really use some help coming up with one. His English first name means 'bright' and 'fame' so I'd like something that conveys at least one of those meanings. I'm avoiding just picking direct meaning translations since I'd like to give him a name that not only has a positive/auspicious meaning, but also wouldn't sound strange to a Chinese native/fluent speaker (my knowledge of Chinese naming practices is definitely nowhere near that level). I don't want a phonetic translation of his English name (which is why I didn't bother to state it). Any help would really be appreciated... Thanks!
