gougou Posted December 14, 2009 at 03:35 AM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 03:35 AM Why don't you have your own kids first and raise them and then send them to communist country that eats DOGSIt's not the dog-eating communists that worry me so much, but rather the communist-eating dogs... Quote
Don_Horhe Posted December 14, 2009 at 09:33 AM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 09:33 AM Well, now that this thread has gone completely off course, has anyone actually tried dog meat? It tastes quite good, if I have to be completely honest. Quote
gato Posted December 14, 2009 at 09:35 AM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 09:35 AM has anyone actually tried dog meat? It tastes quite good, if I have to be completely honest. You must be a Communist. Quote
liuzhou Posted December 14, 2009 at 09:48 AM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 09:48 AM has anyone actually tried dog meat? Yes. Several times. It's OK but I wouldn't go looking for it. Perhaps I'm not communist enough. Quote
Don_Horhe Posted December 14, 2009 at 09:50 AM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 09:50 AM Well, I do come from an ex-communist country, so that must be it. Quote
Guest realmayo Posted December 14, 2009 at 01:46 PM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 01:46 PM Am I the only one who feels a bit sorry for Worriedmom? She's entitled to be worried, given she doesn't know much about China. But I agree with those who say there's really very little to worry about: it's probably safer than a random European country, for a westerner to visit. Quote
jbradfor Posted December 14, 2009 at 03:49 PM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 03:49 PM realmayo, I understand the sentiment, and agree in part. However, reading her original post, what answer was she really expecting to get? She posts on a forum for people learning Chinese, people that either are Chinese or like China, in a way that is rather insulting to China. The fact that she had 6 typos doesn't help her case. [i think people are more likely to pick on posts that are full of errors, consciously or otherwise.] Her phrasing of questions was pretty bad. Add that to the fact that her ignorance of other countries makes her an easy to mock target (especially from those outside the USA, who like to mock Americans' ignorance of other countries), and it's no surprise she got this response. chrix Posted December 14, 2009 at 04:24 PM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 04:24 PM in my experience, jbradfor, you'll get ignorant people anywhere in this world, so in this regard, I'd be an equal-opportunity mocker. But while I would take the first post at face value, even if I had my suspicions, the second just showed thats either a) the OP is a genuine troll B) the OP doesn't know how to behave on a forum in general, regardless of subject matter (and you might be right the typos might subconsciously influence people, though in my case it was more the number of exclamation marks) If someone really makes their case and appears genuinely worried, people might be more willing to accommodate them. adrianlondon Posted December 14, 2009 at 04:49 PM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 04:49 PM If it's not a troll, and I don't think it is as it's too boring to be one, then she should ask her son to sign up and start posting. At the least we could give him some recipes for cooking DOG. Quote
c_redman Posted December 14, 2009 at 09:34 PM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 09:34 PM Regardless of the country, I'd be worried if my kid were to travel half-way around the world for someone he just met online. I hope it works out, or at least he has fun, but in my experience, these situations never play out the way you imagine them in your head. Quote
colour wolf Posted December 14, 2009 at 10:45 PM Report Posted December 14, 2009 at 10:45 PM You guys are all feeding the troll! Seriously now, communists who eat dogs? What other ghastly things could they do there? If this isn't a troll thread, which im 99.9% sure it is, then im more cerncerned about 'worriedmom' (who based upon the username spelling and first post content, portrays oneself as an American) than the smart kid who escaped a place where such people live. Hes probably having the time of his life right now, in search of the elusive 百虎. Quote
gougou Posted December 15, 2009 at 01:02 AM Report Posted December 15, 2009 at 01:02 AM feeding the trollFunny how that takes on a whole new meaning in a thread that's all about eating dogs... Quote
c_redman Posted December 15, 2009 at 08:13 PM Report Posted December 15, 2009 at 08:13 PM 百虎 or 白虎? If he runs into 100 tigers, his mom should rightfully be worried Quote
colour wolf Posted December 15, 2009 at 08:38 PM Report Posted December 15, 2009 at 08:38 PM 白虎 appologies. Yeah, seeking out 100 tigers would be crazy. Maybe possible in China though. Quote
renzhe Posted December 15, 2009 at 09:14 PM Report Posted December 15, 2009 at 09:14 PM And if he runs into 100 white tigers, it will be bye-bye. Quote
gougou Posted December 16, 2009 at 01:23 AM Report Posted December 16, 2009 at 01:23 AM And if he runs into 100 white tigers, it will be bye-bye.Unless there's communists around. They eat anything, I hear. Quote
gerri Posted December 16, 2009 at 03:41 AM Report Posted December 16, 2009 at 03:41 AM Oh, come on, those tigers would be grown to sell their penises to rich guys concerned about their virility. Hence, no danger but to be served white tiger penis... Quote
Don_Horhe Posted December 16, 2009 at 04:05 PM Report Posted December 16, 2009 at 04:05 PM 白虎 has another meaning which I would post here if this was an 18+ forum. Sure hope worried mom doesn't find out what it is. Quote
jbradfor Posted December 16, 2009 at 04:35 PM Report Posted December 16, 2009 at 04:35 PM Don_Horhe, they're already talking about eating Tiger Penises. Too late to keep it 18+.... [白虎 have meaning similar to "white pony" in English?] Quote
Don_Horhe Posted December 16, 2009 at 04:48 PM Report Posted December 16, 2009 at 04:48 PM No, it's totally different. Google 青龙男 白虎女 Quote
