jobin Posted December 16, 2009 at 01:32 PM Report Posted December 16, 2009 at 01:32 PM whoa, that's not far off. i have bought some fine things at 'hong qiao' shopping building, across the street from 'tian tan', the former agricultural temple south of tian'an men. sorry about the poor memory of the name but advise to go only to the top floor, where the better and best items are found. i bought some black sea pearls for my sister. lots of nice shops on the top floor. heifeng Posted December 16, 2009 at 04:17 PM Report Posted December 16, 2009 at 04:17 PM (edited) I remember this place had some bands and diamond rings plus alot of jade and crystals, etc国际珠宝交易中心 on N 4th ring road at 小营. I've gotten some jewelry from shops in there and have been happy with it. Of course, I don't know what type of rings you are looking for specifically, they do have plain bands there, as well as more 'Chinese' style ones that have designs on them, but those bands generally cannot be sized. There are diamond rings at some shops, but I do not know what paperwork they supply with such a purchase. Oh yeah, and congrats! Edited December 17, 2009 at 03:08 PM by heifeng Quote
imron Posted December 17, 2009 at 06:32 AM Report Posted December 17, 2009 at 06:32 AM I wouldn't trust anything bought at 'Hong Qiao' to be real, at least not without taking along someone who really knew their stuff and who could verify it for me. Quote
Flying Pigeon Posted December 17, 2009 at 09:53 AM Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 at 09:53 AM Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I ended up buying a set of rings near my apartment in Shunyi. Not sure if they're "real", but they look nice enough. In the future, when I make the trek into town I'll check out the stores you suggested. Sounds like I might be able to find some nice jewelry to send back home as gifts. Thanks again. Dean Quote
