taijiphoenix Posted December 15, 2009 at 05:15 PM Report Posted December 15, 2009 at 05:15 PM Hello, I just met a language partner on italki, it seems that his english is really limited as he writes to me only in chinese. My chinese is also limited. I told him that I would have time to chat sunday evening at 9. I am having trouble translating his response. 哦,你说星期天晚上九点,是中国的世界吗. Is he asking if this is chinese time? If so, can I respond with 是中国的世界 for yes? I am hoping that by working with someone who is limited in english it will force me to use what chinese I know as well as learn more in the process. Also maybe someone can explain to me the use of 哦. Is this like the english expression 'oh'. Thanks, taijiphoenix Quote
taylor04 Posted December 15, 2009 at 06:27 PM Report Posted December 15, 2009 at 06:27 PM 是中国的世界 I'm assuming he means 是中国的时间吗?I've never heard anyone use 世界 for time. Quote
zhxlier Posted December 15, 2009 at 08:58 PM Report Posted December 15, 2009 at 08:58 PM Yes, I think he meant 时间. He must be typing with a Pinyin input method and made an error (both 世界 and 时间 start with "shij".) Quote
