Daan Posted December 17, 2009 at 03:43 PM Report Share Posted December 17, 2009 at 03:43 PM That's 風, pronounced in Mandarin as fēng and meaning 'wind'.
jbradfor Posted December 17, 2009 at 06:46 PM Report Share Posted December 17, 2009 at 06:46 PM And, strictly speaking, that's the back, not the front. I'd recommend turning it around when you wear it.
Daan Posted December 18, 2009 at 01:06 AM Report Share Posted December 18, 2009 at 01:06 AM Heh, I hadn't even noticed. Funny how your brain recognises characters even when they're the wrong way around.
jbradfor Posted December 18, 2009 at 03:07 PM Report Share Posted December 18, 2009 at 03:07 PM Yeah, the brain does weird things. I noticed it as I had trouble reading it mirror-image like that. But if it's upside-down, I can read it better than mirror-image. Go figure. BTW, to the OP, while "wind" is the correct translation, it is often used more poetically to mean style or spirit. So it's a good character. If you want more usage examples, you can look here: http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php?page=worddict&wdrst=1&wdqb=*%E9%A2%A8*
