crisgee Posted January 4, 2011 at 11:54 AM Report Posted January 4, 2011 at 11:54 AM Haha Beijing is pretty much stone cold nothing on NYE. My classmates and I had a countdown at a hotel parking lot/sidewalk and the bao an gave us some pretty strange looks. In fairness it was our fault for not having a plan. Chinese New Year though is suffering through a week of overzealous neighbors setting off firecrackers during the daytime. But on the eve itself it's quite festive. And true, it'll be more meaningful to spend it in a Chinese family's house. Quote

Brian US Posted January 4, 2011 at 02:25 PM Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 at 02:25 PM From what I've heard is that Beijing can be pretty dead during the Chinese New Year, as many people go home. I guess you could also be stuck with those afraid to go home because they don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend or don't want to hand out 红包. Quote
