HSK in Chicago?

It seems that the closest HSK testing site to me is in Ann Arbor, Michigan...a good 5-6 hour drive away.

I find it shocking that there are zero places to take the test around Chicago, which would be much closer. Am I missing something? Are the tests available at the Chinese embassy or something, perhaps?

I know the answer is probably "no," but I just thought I'd double check before I make the trip to Michigan...and feel stupid later when I discover there were other options.

Does the Confucius Institute in Chicago not offer it?

I know Robert Davis who is director of the Confucius Institute in Chicago, he replies very fast to questions. Try to contact him and find out what is going on with the HSK in Chicago.

I gave the Chicago institute a call and, unfortunately, they do not offer the HSK test. I guess it's off to Michigan for me.

I'm just replying to this old thread since it's such a high search result for "HSK test center Chicago" I'd like to help others out who are looking for the same information.

 

Now it appears there is only one test center in Illinois, located in a publishing house in Chicago:

There was a Confucius Institute at UIUC that offered the test, but this location closed in early 2018.
