"duration of each stay" how to count exactly

Hi,

do you count the first day in or not?

That is, if my Visa says: "Duration of each stay: 30 days after entry", the entry stamp is for example january 1, is the last day to exit january 30 or 31?

I thought it should be january 30, but on the other hand, if I start counting, the "first day after entry" is rather january 2, isn't it?

However I suspect the answer is January 30, so I wonder what I should do if I have a flight out just one day later. Will they give me a "one day" L extension? Or will they say an extension is 30 days anyway, and you have to show us 21000 RMB to get it (which is currently the case in Beijing)?

thanks!

If you enter January 1 with a 30-day permitted stay, then you can stay till January 30 (that is, both enter and exit days are counted).

If you try to get a one-day extension from the PSB, they probably won't want to be bothered, and will make the process difficult so you'll go away.

When leaving one day late, you can be fined 500RMB, be given just a warning, or be left to exit as usual with nothing being said, all in the discretion of the officer.
