rls918 Posted January 7, 2010 at 08:49 AM Report Posted January 7, 2010 at 08:49 AM Hi everyone, I was looking at the Tsinghua application and was wondering what people put for "Financial Sponsor", "Person or Agency to Act on Your Behalf" and "Recommender or Recommending Party". I will be paying for myself (unfortunately), don't know anyone in China and have no recommender. How will this impact the application? Also, is it difficult to gain acceptance into the mandarin study program at Tsinghua? Quote
hichew Posted January 8, 2010 at 03:54 PM Report Posted January 8, 2010 at 03:54 PM i'm heading to tsinghua in a month or so for the language program. don't remember the exact answers i put, put its not a problem if you don't have a recommender or know anyone in china. i think i just put N/A for those. for the financial support, i put self-support but may have put my mom (in the US) as a guarantor just to check the box. i don't think it's that tough to get into the program. i've read elsewhere that as long as your a foreigner and get your app in on time you'll prob be admitted. you can also give them a call or send them an email (chinese@mail.tsinghua.edu.cn) for more details. the email (english) was always very responsive and helpful! hope this helps! Ippokun Posted January 8, 2010 at 05:10 PM Report Posted January 8, 2010 at 05:10 PM I believe it may be a bit late to be applying for the coming semester. But for your question. The sponsor you will need to put someone, to what I recall. Even if you are self funding they need some form of backup for insurance. As for the rest of the items you listed they can be left blank. Tsinghua will fill in their credentials for you as your agency and recommending party. Quote
Cherrieberrie Posted January 8, 2010 at 08:22 PM Report Posted January 8, 2010 at 08:22 PM Hi! I have beed admitted and I wrote "myself" as financial sponsor. I dont think it will have any impact on the application and I dont think that its hard to get in to the program since its the spring semester. Good luck! Hopefully I'll see you in Tsinghua Quote
hichew Posted January 11, 2010 at 04:31 PM Report Posted January 11, 2010 at 04:31 PM to Ippokun's point, i think it maybe too late to apply for spring semester now BUT you should give them a call/drop them an email to see if its possible. as Cherrieberrie mentioned, there's indication that the spring semester is not that full. i've also read posts from somewhere of people applying past the deadline and just giving them a call to try and get in ...
