skylee Posted January 8, 2010 at 01:36 AM Report Posted January 8, 2010 at 01:36 AM A friend sent me this and I find it very interesting. Obviously from Taiwan, it is written in standard Mandarin (traditional script). Funny short stories and (very) easy to understand. skylee Posted January 8, 2010 at 10:30 AM Author Report Posted January 8, 2010 at 10:30 AM I agree with you 一頭豬 is correct. But then I don't have strong views on the use of 一條豬 here because it is meant to be funny and humorous. Somehow I am reminded of 人之患在好爲人師. Yes I hope I can always bear it in mind. Quote
chrix Posted January 8, 2010 at 10:36 AM Report Posted January 8, 2010 at 10:36 AM I think there's a similar discussion regarding the liangci for dogs somewhere on this forum, but these things are not so clear-cut. At least according to google, 一隻豬 is by far the most commonly found combination. But 一條豬 seems to have some hits as well, primarily from Taiwan... A friend from Taiwan thought this must be "Hong Kong or mainland usage", so it might be quite rare even in Taiwan. Quote
chrix Posted January 8, 2010 at 10:38 AM Report Posted January 8, 2010 at 10:38 AM I think it's an interesting point, maybe for another thread though. It seems that usually, pig is either 隻 or 頭. Any semantic differentiations as for 狗? Quote
skylee Posted January 8, 2010 at 10:43 AM Author Report Posted January 8, 2010 at 10:43 AM I think there's a similar discussion regarding the liangci for dogs somewhere on this forum here -> 一只狗 or 一条狗 ? Quote
chenxiyin212 Posted February 23, 2010 at 06:51 AM Report Posted February 23, 2010 at 06:51 AM I think '下班一条龙,上班一条虫' is better than '下班一条龙,上班一条猪' Quote
Shi Tong Posted February 23, 2010 at 12:57 PM Report Posted February 23, 2010 at 12:57 PM I'm going to have to revisit this page since I still dont understand all that's written in this comic, but it's great, thanks for posting it! What with my switch to simplified characters, I'm going to have fun reading some traditional script in the mean time!! Quote
creamyhorror Posted February 25, 2010 at 05:48 PM Report Posted February 25, 2010 at 05:48 PM Haha, "下班一条龙,上班一条虫" really is quite funny Quote
