wanderliz Posted January 9, 2010 at 05:57 AM Report Posted January 9, 2010 at 05:57 AM Does anyone know if you can send a bicycle by train from Hangzhou to Kunming, and if so about how much it might cost? Thanks, Liz Quote
siledouyaoai Posted January 10, 2010 at 09:11 AM Report Posted January 10, 2010 at 09:11 AM Yes, you can, but it will take about three days if I remember rightly (or at least they guarantee it will get there in that time). I sent my bike from Hunan to Kunming, and for a 10kg bike it cost about 40-50 rmb, so I'm guessing since Hangzhou is about double the distance, maybe double the price. You'll need to take it to pieces, ideally put it in a bike bag with plenty of padding, then they'll box it up. If your bike is expensive, you'll need to insure it, how much that costs obviously depends on how much you insure it up to. I think the insurance cost about double the postage price, but that's because I insured it for quite a lot. Quote
terryswift Posted January 12, 2010 at 06:09 AM Report Posted January 12, 2010 at 06:09 AM i have sent my bike via train on three or four occassions, and as of two years ago anyway, it was not necessary to take your bike apart to do this. Quote
LishaEden Posted January 14, 2010 at 04:44 AM Report Posted January 14, 2010 at 04:44 AM When I moved from Zhengzhou to Beijing a Chinese friend called a moving company and they only charged me 50 kuai to ship my bike. I did go to the local bike store and I had them dismantle it so that it would fit into a box. But I then just had the moving company meet me at a bike store in Beijing where I got it put back together. If I remember correctly it took about a week to ship. Quote
