isela Posted January 13, 2010 at 08:06 AM Report Posted January 13, 2010 at 08:06 AM Hi, Mistyqu: I'm very sorry to hear your story. I tried hard to think, but couldn't come up with a perfect name for your lost child. But what stayed in my mind for a long time was "馨(sweetly)存(existence)" or "馨儿". 馨 also has the same pronunciation as 心 (heart) and the name can be interpreted as "always exist in (my) heart". Hope that other people can bring up better ideas. All the best to you! Quote
mistyqu Posted January 14, 2010 at 04:46 AM Author Report Posted January 14, 2010 at 04:46 AM thanks for the help. it will go on my list .......... guys? anyone else with suggestions? Quote
CrisPal Posted January 14, 2010 at 07:13 AM Report Posted January 14, 2010 at 07:13 AM How do you think about 永失我爱 which means " I lost my darling forever. or 天堂里有妈妈的爱 (my love is around you in the heaven),maybe this is a bit long as a tattoo. oh, I am a Chinese whose english is limited Quote
zheta Posted January 14, 2010 at 02:42 PM Report Posted January 14, 2010 at 02:42 PM I am sorry for your lost... 馨 is really a beautiful character. or quit similar to the suggestion from CrisPal, "天堂有爱" is pretty nice and shorter i think, it means (My) love lives in the paradise. Quote
mistyqu Posted January 15, 2010 at 07:57 AM Author Report Posted January 15, 2010 at 07:57 AM Thank you all for the help!!!!! Its been constantly on my mind and i am looking forward to finding the perfect way to remember 'her'. I am hoping for something short and easy.... if i do use the "馨" charachter can we do another variation? who else votes for "馨"? Other suggestions? Quote
CrisPal Posted January 16, 2010 at 08:17 AM Report Posted January 16, 2010 at 08:17 AM Directly, people can hardly grasp what`s the meaning of "馨".the baby`s name? In fact, 馨 has no meaning of "memary" or "missing",it came across to" good" "warm" or"fragrant" for eg 温馨 德艺双馨 馨香一瓣 馨 in these words shows some happiness meaning. so as a Chinese,i prefer the word 永失我爱 Quote
mistyqu Posted January 16, 2010 at 08:33 AM Author Report Posted January 16, 2010 at 08:33 AM Thanks for your insight CrisPal! Just so you know Im not hoping to remember the child as something Im missing or something Ive lost(There is no need for obvious referance to a death). I want something more as a sign of love.... So yes 永失我爱 is a lovely option. Whats your opinion on simply "永爱"? and Does "馨存" carry any feeling in your mind? Is it understandable? Quote
mistyqu Posted January 17, 2010 at 08:06 AM Author Report Posted January 17, 2010 at 08:06 AM Thanks for your insight CrisPal! Just a quick note i do not want to remember the child as something ive "lost" or something "missing"....... i want a rememberance to symbolize love. so yes 永失我爱is a great option. what do u think of simply 永爱? what comes to mind when you see 馨存? is it well put? Thanks again! Quote
CrisPal Posted January 17, 2010 at 04:37 PM Report Posted January 17, 2010 at 04:37 PM The most important thing is you want to express your LOVE to the baby, right? But ''馨存''can not do that,in fact, the two chinese charactars are with no meaning together. so as to 永爱 is not better than 永失我爱,and, the former is not proper way in chinese. Although I can hardly get another word better than 永失我爱 but, maybe you think it is a bit sad. So,why do you get the baby a Chinese name? That is simple, then. Quote
isela Posted January 18, 2010 at 12:18 AM Report Posted January 18, 2010 at 12:18 AM I'd like to suggest "馨儿" again, as this shows more clearly the fact that the tattoo is for a baby. In fact, "馨儿" itself makes a nice nickname for a girl, so it'd be as if you tattoo with your baby's name. Forget about "馨存" now. It's no good. I think you should await more suggestions before making the decision. Quote
