MengJiaSheng Posted January 17, 2010 at 09:50 PM Report Share Posted January 17, 2010 at 09:50 PM (edited) Basically I am stuck with the following translation: It is a term used to describe the warming of the earth due to increasing amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. I have come up with the following translation but it does not seem to sound right: 其是一个用来描述因大气二氧化碳量越来越高尔全球变化的术语。 I dont really now how to express the "due to ..." bit. Can 因..而 actually be used in this way, with a noun after 而? I would be very thankful for any help. isela Posted January 17, 2010 at 11:26 PM Report Share Posted January 17, 2010 at 11:26 PM IMO: 这是一个用于描述地球因空气中二氧化碳含量增高而变暖的的术语.
semantic nuance Posted January 18, 2010 at 02:21 AM Report Share Posted January 18, 2010 at 02:21 AM (edited) How about 這個術語是用來描述因大氣層二氧化碳含量遞增所造成全球暖化的現象? It would be clearer if you can give us your original English sentence. Edited January 19, 2010 at 02:48 AM by semantic nuance
MengJiaSheng Posted January 18, 2010 at 03:20 AM Author Report Share Posted January 18, 2010 at 03:20 AM It is a term used to describe the warming of the earth due to increasing amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. is the original sentence. But thanks for the translation anyway. Especially Isela's one. It somehow did not occur to me that I could put 全球 before 因。。。而。。 and solve the problem that way. Becuause I mainly did not know where to put 全球 as it seemed to be wrong putting it after 而。
