virtuoso735 Posted January 18, 2010 at 05:20 PM Report Posted January 18, 2010 at 05:20 PM Hi everyone, I am applying to a few Chinese language programs, including ACC (run by Hamilton). I heard that they administer oral interviews over the phone to prospective students. Does anyone know whether these interviews are conducted in Chinese or English? I've taken one semester of Chinese so far (but will have taken two by the time the program starts), so my best guess is that they are conducting the interview in English, but I wonder what they need to know about me beyond what they can glean from the application (letters of rec, personal statement, transcript, and all). Maybe they will have me say a few phrases in Chinese? I'm kind of nervous about this--does anyone know what it's about? Thanks Quote
virtuoso735 Posted January 20, 2010 at 07:56 PM Author Report Posted January 20, 2010 at 07:56 PM I just had my phone interview, and I'll post this for reference for future ACC applicants in case anyone is interested. Basically, the interviewer asked me why I wanted to learn Chinese and why I applied to ACC. She also asked me some basic questions in Chinese (name, family, what I liked about Chinese, and so on), which I answered in Chinese (of course). I think I did well overall; she seemed impressed by my speaking ability (I've only taken one semester of Chinese). I really hope I get in! Quote
