Very quick translation required please!!

Hi everyone,

I am planning on getting a tattoo in memory of my father who died last year, but am struggling to get the translation into Chinese characters that I would like. I would love to have "My Hero" or "Our Hero", please can anyone help?

I have found the symbol for "My" (http://chineseculture.about.com/library/symbol/np/nc_my.htm)

and for "Hero" (http://chineseculture.about.com/library/symbol/np/nc_hero.htm)

Is it as simple as putting the four characters together? I'm sorry, I am rather ignorant with this...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much :D

Are you going to include his name or picture with the hanzi? If I saw that (in any language) on someone, I would think it was a "label" indicating themself.

The "hero" here basically stands for "idol" or "role model". Does 英雄 carry this connotation like it does in English?

To me, it summons up ideas of Wuxia fighters or David Hasselhof.

If you add something about your dad at the start, then people would know it's about your dad- putting "my hero" doesn't really tell any story, unless you have the pic as mentioned.

Why dont you look up a Chinese idiom which is to do with respect and love for your parents or father?

I think this would be much more traditionally Chinese and probably more classical and poetic.

The only thing I can find online as an example is this:

but I'm not sure it's appropriate.. someone more in tune with chengyu might be in a better position to help?!:)

I don't know how to quote but 英风长存 (Traditional Chinese: 英風長存) is also not appropiate, don't tatoo it.
