lanzhoumian Posted January 31, 2010 at 02:03 AM Report Posted January 31, 2010 at 02:03 AM so, as everybody seems to like that movie, I guess I have to go as well. I heard there are only 2 big screen cinemas in Beijing that can show it to maximise the 3D effect. And they are sold out until the year 2143 or something. Any advice where to watch and how to get tickets? Quote
pancake Posted January 31, 2010 at 12:57 PM Report Posted January 31, 2010 at 12:57 PM I would watch it in IMAX 3D. This thread has a list of venues in Beijing. And if you can't get a ticket, don't sweat it. The movie really wasn't that good anyway in my opinion. Quote
MikeyNinja91 Posted February 4, 2010 at 07:43 AM Report Posted February 4, 2010 at 07:43 AM I heard that China didn't want Avatar to steal thunder from the release of the new Confucius movie so they limited the number of screenings available. Is this true? Quote
gato Posted February 4, 2010 at 08:06 AM Report Posted February 4, 2010 at 08:06 AM Yeah, they shut down most of the 2D screens that were playing Avatar. A lot of smaller cities don't have 3D screens, which means Avatar is effectively shut down in those cities. Quote
Don_Horhe Posted February 4, 2010 at 10:03 AM Report Posted February 4, 2010 at 10:03 AM I think the real reason they took it of 2D scenes was because they didn't want millions of people whose land has been seized going "Hey, this is just like what the government does to us!" and getting funny ideas.
