virtuoso735 Posted February 3, 2010 at 09:43 PM Report Posted February 3, 2010 at 09:43 PM Hi, I really want to study Chinese in Taiwan, and I recently found about the MOE scholarship. The details on the website about eligibility requirements are a little vauge. Can someone help me decide if I am eligible to apply based on the following details? I am a US citizen in my third year at an American university not majoring in anything East-Asian related. If I were to study abroad in Taiwan, I would take a gap year between my junior and senior years. This year, I will complete my first year of Chinese, and will study second year Chinese during the summer in Beijing. Would the leave of absence, and only having two years of Chinese make me ineligible for the scholarship? How competitive is it? Also, the website says that the stipend is $735 a month. Does this mean that they cover tuition costs, and I would get 735 for living expenses? Or do they only cover living expenses and not tuition? Thanks for your help. Quote
