Just curious... are there study areas in this place? Like any "normal" library, is this a place I can go with a book and just read by myself?

I'm feeling adventurous, but also need to find a quiet place to study.. and I'd imagine there is other interesting stuff here that might be worth checking out.

Yes, just go to the foreign book room in the back. They are usually not too crowded and you can find a table for studying. You need to get a reading card first , though. Bring your passport to the library card application area of the library.. It think it cost 100yuan when I got it a few years ago.

And don't bring too much other stuff, since I think they required me to put that in a locker when I was there in November.

...and lower your expectation on reader's services. The No.1 mission of Chinese National Libary (and libaries in China in general) is to store books rather than serve the reader:mrgreen:

I have friends working there, by the way
