trisha2766 Posted February 10, 2010 at 05:30 PM Report Share Posted February 10, 2010 at 05:30 PM Maybe its just me but both the Chinese Breeze book sites seem to be down: hanyufeng.com and chinesebreeze.com.cn I just got my books recently and I see that in the back it says that the plan is for 60 books to be published in 3 years time starting November 2007. That would be mean the rest of them should all be out by the end of this year. Based on how many are out so far and that the web sites are down - does anyone know if they still have plans to publish the rest?
roddy Posted February 12, 2010 at 03:01 AM Report Share Posted February 12, 2010 at 03:01 AM No need to worry - the publishers Peking University Press aren't likely to go anywhere, and according to this forum post there are more due after the Spring Festival. You could keep an eye on PUP.cn, but it's not the most functional of websites. Chinese companies in general are pretty poor at maintaining websites - they've probably just forgotten to renew the domain names, or are having technical issues they haven't noticed yet, etc. Doesn't mean the company behind the site are having issues. jbradfor Posted February 12, 2010 at 03:55 AM Report Share Posted February 12, 2010 at 03:55 AM Yeah, right, blaming domain name issues. How important is that? I mean, it's not like domain name issues can bring a site down for a week or anything like that.
roddy Posted February 12, 2010 at 04:09 AM Report Share Posted February 12, 2010 at 04:09 AM Hey! That wasn't my fault. Mostly. Allow me to clarify. If you have a large publishing company, one website going down might not be fatal. If you have one website, one website going down may indeed be troublesome. trisha2766 Posted February 13, 2010 at 04:31 PM Author Report Share Posted February 13, 2010 at 04:31 PM That's good to know they aren't going away. I think the higher level books will be very helpful later on as I'm learning more and more words.
skritterdoug Posted February 18, 2010 at 07:40 PM Report Share Posted February 18, 2010 at 07:40 PM I'd really like them to release more books - I bought all of them and though the stories are pretty bad (the I really like her story has got to be the worst) they are great practice material. It does seem that they are behind their published schedule for releasing books....
elina Posted April 5, 2010 at 01:02 PM Report Share Posted April 5, 2010 at 01:02 PM In my memory, hanyufeng.com and chinesebreeze.com.cn websites have never operated properly, a few dead links are always there. But this does not affect they publish the Chinese Breeze books, although the time is much longer than their expecting, since the authors are quite busy. The latest book of After the Accident was released two weeks ago: http://www.studychineseculture.com/book.asp?id=5030 And the next book of 一张旧画 will be out in about 2-3 months.
