liuzhou Posted August 24, 2004 at 10:58 AM Report Posted August 24, 2004 at 10:58 AM With the Olympics coming to China for the first time, would it not be appropriate to introduce some new events with Chinese characteristics? My suggestions: a} The 100 metre shoulder pole race. Rules: Half a ton of rice on each end of one of those shoulder poles. Run! This event is obviously open to variation. The shoulder pole marathon? B) Long distance spitting. Over to you. Quote

Jack MacKelly Posted March 17, 2005 at 07:58 AM Report Posted March 17, 2005 at 07:58 AM Well here's what really might be happening There's going to be open badminton, maybe some type of kungfu combat sport, more Horse racing / Equestrian Sports, new event with Wushu, perhaps more fencing and archery events, and more nations will play in a series of basketball Quote
confucius Posted March 17, 2005 at 10:26 AM Report Posted March 17, 2005 at 10:26 AM I'm a big fan of "badminton sans net" The Chinese seem to practice this sport more often than the real badminton. I have also seen "street tennis", where two players stand out on a road and play wangqiu with no wang. Quote
