New events for 2008 in Beijing

With the Olympics coming to China for the first time, would it not be appropriate to introduce some new events with Chinese characteristics?

My suggestions:

a} The 100 metre shoulder pole race.

Rules: Half a ton of rice on each end of one of those shoulder poles. Run!

This event is obviously open to variation. The shoulder pole marathon?

B) Long distance spitting.

Over to you.

Well here's what really might be happening

There's going to be open badminton, maybe some type of kungfu combat sport, more Horse racing / Equestrian Sports, new event with Wushu, perhaps more fencing and archery events, and more nations will play in a series of basketball

I'm a big fan of "badminton sans net"

The Chinese seem to practice this sport more often than the real badminton.

I have also seen "street tennis", where two players stand out on a road and play wangqiu with no wang.

I wonder who will be the one to light the Olympic flame at the opening ceremonies in 2008.

Just a wild guess, but I bet on Jet Li.

Don't forget about the tricycle race, with or without garbage...
