In case anyone is interested in my application details: I have HSK 6, HSK Oral Advanced (2016). I have a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering (Chinese taught) from Changzhou University. I won prizes at a couple of Chinese competitions for foreigners while in China. I applied for MTCSOL 2 years at East China Normal Uni, Shanghai. I clicked 'yes' for applying for the teacher's program. (Don't know either what they really mean by that) Took a gap year back in Mauritius after bachelor graduation, spent reading some papers about TCSOL. I taught elementary Chinese for a few months here. I applied via HSK Center (Chinese Cultural Center) because the local CI is new (<6 months when I sent my application) I didn't apply to my CI's partner university, 浙江理工, they don't offer MTCSOL anyway. In my application statement I wrote I would like to be a Chinese teacher in Mauritius, but lack the foundation and training. Also applied for CGS via independent uni program, still to ECNU but not MTCSOL, and the status is still "submitted"... lol Difficult to say how each of these weight on how they choose the final scholarship recipients, but that's what it's all about, trying to increase your chances and show them you're worth the money they'll be investing on you. Hey for those who'll be in Shanghai this September, we could even meet up and celebrate around a hotpot or with some 小笼包 9

My application circumstances: • I chose TCSOL and one-year • I've just graduated and will receive a bachelor degree of 'English and American Studies' • I applied through my uni's Confucius Institute • I have HSK 3 • In my application statement I wrote that I want to continue studying on MTCSOL and become a Chinese teacher • I didn't apply to our uni's partner uni • I also chose that I want to participate in the Teacher's Program (of course later, not now because my Chinese is still not enough). 8

I am extremelly grateful to all you who always supported me. I was rejected 3 times, I have been very frustrated and it hasn't been easy, but I never gave up. I am a HSK center student and my school wasn't helpful to me at all, so at the end I found a CI in another province of my country, I sat a train for 11 hours in a day and they were very efficient and willing to help me. Althought I am not a student of them I could apply for their partner university and I was pre-admitted by the school within 10 minutes after the submission! Today I finally got it too, I believe everything is possible now, and I cannot thank you enough! 8
