summerjam08 Posted July 6, 2015 at 10:09 AM Report Share Posted July 6, 2015 at 10:09 AM to igacave: I don't think students will be given money at the beginning of the year, as, according to the rules of this year , we only have a monthly scholarship. By the way, anyone knows if I'll be punished for missing a week at the end of June? I have to return to my country to pass some exams
igacave Posted July 6, 2015 at 03:23 PM Report Share Posted July 6, 2015 at 03:23 PM Thank you. As far as I know, there should be no problem. However, every Uni makes it's own rules. What kind of currency are you goin' to take with you to China?
Marcin_KG Posted July 6, 2015 at 04:31 PM Report Share Posted July 6, 2015 at 04:31 PM @Gudai: my university has recently informed me that the admission papers will be sent around mid July, so I expect to get the documents in the second half of the same month. I wouldn't worry too much about visa - e.g. in my country Chinese Embassy issues visas in 4-5 working days, and this is not an express mode (which is 1 or 2 working days I guess). New Members KaiwenDu8 Posted July 6, 2015 at 05:28 PM New Members Report Share Posted July 6, 2015 at 05:28 PM Even though I picked my documents up at my university, the welcome package including the same documents:visa application form and certificate of admission etc. arrived at my house on the 2nd of July. So each university must have different procedures, so make sure to check with your institute.
summerjam08 Posted July 6, 2015 at 09:32 PM Report Share Posted July 6, 2015 at 09:32 PM To igacave: Hope there will be no problem, they say we are to pass HSK in May and other exams in June, so maybe I'll even manage to pass everything in time As far as money is concerned, I'm Russian so I suppose I'll have to exchange currency and bring some rmb in cash. The problem is that banks in Russia don't issue cards that transit ruble in rmb directly, it is rather ruble-dollar-rmb. Anyone knows if it is more convenient to use Western Union or something like that to send money?
igacave Posted July 7, 2015 at 07:17 PM Report Share Posted July 7, 2015 at 07:17 PM summerjam08, I am Polish, I went to Russia once and I loved it there I was hoping to exchange British pounds.
haofei Posted July 16, 2015 at 03:04 AM Report Share Posted July 16, 2015 at 03:04 AM Anyone else been accepted for the semester starting Jan/Feb 2016? I'm not sure whether we are supposed to receive the letter and visa documents at the same time as those leaving for the September intake?
haofei Posted July 16, 2015 at 03:25 AM Report Share Posted July 16, 2015 at 03:25 AM Additionnally, regarding this sentence: " 祝贺荣获孔子学院奖学金!学校领取孔子学院奖学金证书,请咨询wangxiaoxu@hanban.org,并请学校将入学材料寄至推荐机构转交奖学金生" --> does it mean we have to send an email to the school or to Hanban?? Thanks guys!
Matthewkell Posted July 16, 2015 at 01:08 PM Report Share Posted July 16, 2015 at 01:08 PM I wasn't sure either, I e-mailed both. The International Office of my University didn't reply until I eventually contacted Wang Xiaoxu, and a few days later they sent me an email saying that they are sending the documents out soon. Not sure if it's coincidence or not, they didn't really acknowledge any of my previous e-mails, but it doesn't hurt to e-mail both just in case. Matthewkell Posted July 16, 2015 at 01:28 PM Report Share Posted July 16, 2015 at 01:28 PM Has anyone heard about when they have to be there by? The lack of communication is starting to get infuriating....

Does anyone else has a subsection in which it says we're to write an essay about our 'Chinese Dream' or is it just my uni? ;D.
kony Posted July 17, 2015 at 11:51 AM Report Share Posted July 17, 2015 at 11:51 AM @summerjam08 @igacave I am going to Nanjing as well, but I did not receive the visa form so far. I also know one more person who is going to Nanjing as well. Where are you going from? I'll probably be travelling from Warsaw, Poland or Berlin, Germany to Beijing, and then to Nanjing, but I'll check available plane tickets when I'll get the form from the university. It's already middle of July, so hopefully they will arrive soon enough so as the prices of the tickets won't rise too much...
yoeri Posted July 20, 2015 at 12:52 PM Report Share Posted July 20, 2015 at 12:52 PM Anyone going to Nanjing University who already has the visa form etc.? I still have not received it even though they told me weeks ago that they will send it to my contact address within one week.. A friend of mine (also going to nanda) has the same problem, and they do not seem to respond to any emails (neither in English or Chinese). Another question to the ones who have their documents already: What visa do we need to apply for when we do the one-year academic programme? I guess X1 visa, right? Are there any documents apart from the visa application form and the ones we receive from the school (JW202 and admission notice) that we need for the visa? New Members Simonshuodidideyu Posted July 20, 2015 at 01:35 PM New Members Report Share Posted July 20, 2015 at 01:35 PM @kony @yoeri I still have not receive the admission stuff either. A guy from my university told me that it might take up t three weeks for the post to arrive, according to their email they might have sent it at the 2nd july or even later. @kony I already bought my ticket and will fly from Düsseldorf to Shanghai it seems the prices gone up since the last couple of days. I hope the university doesnt mind if I arrive at 1st september. @yoeri I think you should try zhoucy@nju.edu.cn the other one is probably just used for announcements. Her response to me was just to wait a bit.
Matthewkell Posted July 20, 2015 at 03:32 PM Report Share Posted July 20, 2015 at 03:32 PM To people who have received their documents, what date did it say you are expected to arrive? I still don't know, when they do eventually respond to my emails they always seem to evade answering that question, so frustrating.
Gudai Posted July 20, 2015 at 03:36 PM Report Share Posted July 20, 2015 at 03:36 PM @Matthewkell If it comes to Yunnan Normal University, we're supposed to be there between the 1st and 4th of September.

--/Mary/-- Posted July 23, 2015 at 02:59 PM Report Share Posted July 23, 2015 at 02:59 PM @Ori_A Xiamen sent my admissions packet to my CI, so now the CI is going to forward it to my home. Since you already got yours, could you tell me if there is any specific time we have to arrive/register by. I'm trying to coordinate my flight so that I don't get there too late and have to stay in a hotel overnight. Thanks!
