Outofin Posted February 20, 2010 at 04:56 AM Report Posted February 20, 2010 at 04:56 AM 艋舺 MonGa A very popular Taiwan movie. Much better than 海角七号. Two shortcomings of the movie: 1. It's supposed to be gangster movie, but it's very soft. And its softness makes it feel amateur and naive. Over years, I'm getting an (maybe false) impression that all Taiwanese are soft spokers. 2. It's roughly 140 mins. I think making it a standard 100 mins movie can significantly improve it. Quote
iolair Posted April 1, 2010 at 05:05 AM Report Posted April 1, 2010 at 05:05 AM I guess you're right. It was a bit light for a mafia movie, but I think that's why I liked it. It had an interesting feel about it. Slightly kitschy, retro-Taiwan meets 黑社会. Thumbs up from me. Quote
WoAiJolinTsai Posted December 13, 2010 at 06:44 AM Report Posted December 13, 2010 at 06:44 AM 阮经天 was great in it, as was 凤小岳... two of my favorite up and coming Taiwanese actors Also there was a surprise appearance by 陈汉典 haha... Some of you might know him as the sidekick on 康熙来了... he was as hilarious as usual in this movie as well. Quote
