Ian_Lee Posted August 26, 2004 at 11:54 PM Report Posted August 26, 2004 at 11:54 PM John Woo is going to China to direct the epic movie "Battle of Red Cliff 赤壁之戰" -- a famous chapter from the Romance of Three Kingdoms. Outlay of the film will exceed US$36 million -- the most costly production in China's film history which outstrips any of Zhang Yimou's movies. Chow Yun Fat will act as Liu Bei, the King of Shu. Other famous Japanese and Korean actors and actresses will also have a role in the movie. Read: http://english.sina.com/news/life/6872916.shtml Quote
Ian_Lee Posted March 6, 2007 at 09:05 PM Author Report Posted March 6, 2007 at 09:05 PM Finally John Woo starts making this film on March 29 after three years' preparation. And the budget doubles to US$75 million -- more than any Chinese movie ever costed. During filming the famous battle scene of setting the fleet on fire at the Red Cliff, CCTV is going to broadcast it live. But Tony Leung resigns at the last minute. Now it is Takeshi Kaneshiro to be Zhuge Liang. Anyway, Chow Yun Fat as Zhou Yu really seems to be over-aged. Quote
