I am rekindling old chinese friendships since returning to china and would like to know what people use as a closing statement that means something like "stay in touch".

You can also say 保持联系 bǎochí liánxì

Ah yes, I think it's lianluo for Taiwanese acquaintances and lianxi for mainland ones.

Either of those is fine, most of my friends say 保持联系, they are from the mainland and Hong Kong. But I'm sure your friends will understand either of them.
