Baggerking Posted February 28, 2010 at 02:43 PM Report Posted February 28, 2010 at 02:43 PM Now, I'm not sure if this is where I should be posting this but... I have a Chinese girlfriend who has pretty good English but still not up to par for watching TV Shows and such. We were just watching Lost on youku.com and tudou.com but then they tore down all the old episodes. She's on season 5 and I want her to finish (relatively quickly) so we can enjoy season 6 together. I have seen the subtitle groups from older episodes but I'm having trouble finding them on the internet and am not sure if they have an area where we could just download the .srt files and impose it on downloaded video by ourselves. Do any of you know of any place or circle on the internet where one could go to download subtitles for these episodes in Chinese? She wants to watch them without subtitles but it takes us like 3 hours to watch an episode and kind of ruins it for me. I don't want to make a fuss cause, like most Chinese, I like the 和谐. Quote
Tommi Posted February 28, 2010 at 04:18 PM Report Posted February 28, 2010 at 04:18 PM I use Sublight software for finding english subs, and www.shooter.cn for chinese subs. Quote
creamyhorror Posted February 28, 2010 at 06:10 PM Report Posted February 28, 2010 at 06:10 PM Shooter is good, and there's also subom.com. Quote
BrandeX Posted March 1, 2010 at 10:15 AM Report Posted March 1, 2010 at 10:15 AM (edited) I get my shows pre-subbed at www.verycd.com if you cant find them there, get the subs separately at shooter, as mentioned above. Edited March 6, 2010 at 04:08 AM by BrandeX Quote
Chinadoog Posted March 2, 2010 at 02:49 AM Report Posted March 2, 2010 at 02:49 AM A related question - how do you get Chinese subs to work in VLC player? I'm using vista if that matters. Quote
jbradfor Posted March 2, 2010 at 04:29 AM Report Posted March 2, 2010 at 04:29 AM Rename the subs file to the same name as the video file, except with a different extension. It should play automatically. Or click video -> subtitles track -> load file. Quote
Chinadoog Posted March 3, 2010 at 01:22 PM Report Posted March 3, 2010 at 01:22 PM I know how to load subtitles into VLC, but Chinese subs won't work. In the place where the subs should be, there's just like empty boxes or something like that. Quote
renzhe Posted March 3, 2010 at 01:27 PM Report Posted March 3, 2010 at 01:27 PM You either have a font problem or encoding problem. Check the options to see if you can set the encoding and/or the display font. Quote
Baggerking Posted March 4, 2010 at 06:36 AM Author Report Posted March 4, 2010 at 06:36 AM I struggled with VLC and the subs for hours before finding an earlier post on this website. There was a lot of advice but the only one that worked for me was using a new video player, KMplayer. http://kmplayer.en.softonic.com/ try this Quote
