kdavid Posted March 4, 2010 at 10:58 PM Report Share Posted March 4, 2010 at 10:58 PM I couldn't find any specific place for a software-related post, so I just stuck it here. Is anyone familiar with building websites in Chinese for the Chinese market, and how SEO works for Chinese search engines such as Baidu? If so, could you provide some tips, hints, or links to learn more? Thanks in advance!
gougou Posted March 4, 2010 at 11:43 PM Report Share Posted March 4, 2010 at 11:43 PM Build a website, pay a significant amount of money to Baidu, come out on top. Simple as that.

Only Chinese nationals can register from now on. That's after sending fingerprints and personal picture to the authorities :wall

chrix Posted March 5, 2010 at 02:30 PM Report Share Posted March 5, 2010 at 02:30 PM Well, I heard about it too, a couple of weeks ago, and it was all over the China-related interwebs, but I don't recall any details as I wasn't (and still aren't) looking to get me a .cn domain

Prodigal Son Posted June 2, 2010 at 07:35 AM Report Share Posted June 2, 2010 at 07:35 AM It works more or less the same was as SEO does in any language. If you can grasp the essentials of Google/English SEO, you will perform well on Baidu. Like others have mentioned, you'll be competing with paid search results but there's nothing you can do about that.
