bottledpoetry Posted March 13, 2010 at 12:08 PM Report Posted March 13, 2010 at 12:08 PM Hi there everybody, Did a quick search of the forums, and saw that I can withdraw money from my Unionpay account at Citibank ATMs in the US. That sounds great (yes! I can actually access my money here!), but does anybody know about the withdrawal fees associated with taking money out this way? I'm planning to take out around RMB7,000 for a tech purchase. Any help is appreciated Thank you. Quote
simonlaing Posted March 17, 2010 at 04:48 AM Report Posted March 17, 2010 at 04:48 AM Usually it is fine, Some ATMs have limits on the amount of money you can take out at one time, usually 2,000 yuan, sometimes 2,500. So you will have to do 4 withdrawals of 2,000 to get he money instead of the 7,000 all at once. I haven't done this in awhile . I think most banks will let you withdraw money from the ATM, the Bank of China is the most regular. Also using the ATM is usually easier than using the person at the counter as they may have you show lots of ID and fill out several forms at the counter. If you had a bank of America card, You used to be able to withdraw from the Construction Bank ATM with no fees, (since they sold their share of the Construction bank ) I am not sure if it is still the case. Good luck, Simon:) Quote

flameproof Posted March 19, 2010 at 08:13 AM Report Posted March 19, 2010 at 08:13 AM I doubt you can withdraw any RMB in the USA. You withdraw US$, which will be debited as RMB from your account in CN. From my experience with Maestro/EC the fees really depend on your local bank and not on the ATM you withdraw from. You should check that with your bank in China what they charge for out-of-country ATM use. Quote
