Jason. Posted March 24, 2010 at 04:39 AM Report Posted March 24, 2010 at 04:39 AM Hi Guys. I'm from the UK an will be studying at jiao tong this september. I pretty much understand how the whole legal process will work but would love to be told I'm wrong > So I'll get my X visa but also apply for an L (60 day multi-entry) so I can arrive in July (Arriving & staying before my 30 X visa limit?) > Get a hotel and then find an apartment > Sign the apartment contract on an L visa? (I've read this is fine, landlords don't ask) > Report to the PSB within 24 hours to get a temporary residence visa > Once the uni term starts get my admission form and health check then apply for proper residency. Does this sound like a plan? Or a plan to get myself kicked out? Many Thanks! Quote
fanglu Posted March 24, 2010 at 06:24 AM Report Posted March 24, 2010 at 06:24 AM Only one problem. You can only have one visa at a time so you will need to get the X visa only when you are ready to use it. You might have to leave China to do this. Quote
Jason. Posted March 29, 2010 at 11:27 AM Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 at 11:27 AM Yeh I thought I could run into problems trying it that way, thanks for the help though! I think I'll just scrap the early entry plan and arrive 2 weeks before my term starts then try to find a place. Quote
Simon_CH Posted March 30, 2010 at 12:09 PM Report Posted March 30, 2010 at 12:09 PM Have the same problem, can I apply for a multiple-entry 1 year study Visa while staying in Hong Kong or elsewhere in Asia ? Quote
Lantos Posted March 30, 2010 at 04:11 PM Report Posted March 30, 2010 at 04:11 PM hi, maybe i will have the same problem in July-August. So I've made some inquiries. And i guess it's possible to converse your L visa to X visa without leaving China. But you will need the help of the university you applied (because after the deadline applicants who don't receive the admission package in time come with L visa to China and later they alter it to X). So you should ask your chinese university if they could help... Quote
