taylor04 Posted April 3, 2010 at 02:58 PM Report Posted April 3, 2010 at 02:58 PM You can go to the computer market and find a decent used phone that's pretty cheap. A lot of the real electronics are actually about the same price if not a little cheaper in the US, but a big downside about China is you run the risk of buying fakes. What should you bring? Well we don't know anything about you. Are you a person of Chinese descent or a foreigner? If you are a foreigner and quite tall or fat, I would recommend clothes. Do you have big feet? A few pair of shoes might be a good idea. Do you take any special medicine? Think about what your absolute essentials are other than basic things like shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, etc and pack those essential things. Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions. newyork Posted April 6, 2010 at 01:05 PM Report Posted April 6, 2010 at 01:05 PM unlock your mobile phone and bring it with you. When you settle, you can worry about getting a new phone. you can easily get shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste etc.. in supermarkets. What you need to bring is one or two rolls or toilet paper in your backpack, just in case, as they don't have toilet paper in the toilets Quote
china-fan Posted April 6, 2010 at 07:47 PM Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 at 07:47 PM I am buying a Blackberry so I can be in contact with family and friends Thank you about the TOILET PAPER:lol: I know by fact that is a must in ASIAN countries. Someone going to BFSU ? let me know .... M Quote
bunny87 Posted April 11, 2010 at 10:05 PM Report Posted April 11, 2010 at 10:05 PM Am I able to put a china SIM card in a windows mobile phone, or do i really need to buy a new phone? if it is comparable buying a new phone to paying someone to fix my phone for China ? Is that even possible? I've never been attached to my phone until it became touch screen and got Pleco installed. Pleco has saved my butt in Chinese classes for a few semesters now ( i do flashcards on it). I suppose if I can't use my phone for the phone itself, it's still a necessary study tool, I'd just prefer to have a light purse when I go around... please let me know, thanks! Quote

china-fan Posted April 17, 2010 at 09:28 PM Author Report Posted April 17, 2010 at 09:28 PM don't worry they are VERY slow I sent my application mid-March. I wrote to them second week of April asking if they received the paper and they said yes but, it will take a few week for them to send everything. I don't think you will have any problem you just have to be very patience. Good luck and keep me post it so we can be in touch while we are there. I am from Canada, born and raise in Mexico and you? take care M:lol: Quote
