Studying at ECNU-Advice on Location Needed

Hi,

Thinking about heading to ECNU for fall semester to study Mandarin but am uncertain on the convenience of the location. Have been browsing through alot of threads and living downtown seems to be the way forwards.

Is this a correct assumption to make? If I were to study at ECNU, what area is it in, is it downtown and are the surrounding neighbourhoods good areas to live in?

ECNU is near Zhongshan Park, a very central part of the city and one of the better places to live in Shanghai, in my opinion.
