elina Posted April 5, 2010 at 12:28 PM Report Posted April 5, 2010 at 12:28 PM (Edit: business already back to normal in 2011, this old information was written in 2010, please see the new number 13 post below) I’m the owner of http://www.studychineseculture.com, using the name of Ellen on our site. From tomorrow on April 6, 2010 in Beijing time, I will reduce our business for at least 1 year, by only selling the DVDs & books (and other books in the same series) on our homepage, as well as in this category:http://www.studychineseculture.com/class.asp?fid=265&sid=515&tid=0Other products on our site will not be sold, and the searching books service will also be stopped, in order to make our job easier and more simply to handle, and cut down my working time. Currently there are over 5000 products on our site, I think some information of them are more detailed than those on other sites. So people could check and view the books on our site to get some reference, and then buy from other sources.Regarding the famous Chinese Breeze Graded Readers Series, there will be altogether over 60 books at 8 language levels planned to be printed step by step, till now only 12 book are out, we will trace each new book and upload it to our site at the very first time. Thanks for everyone who supports our site in the past several years. In the reduced business, we will continuously provide excellent service as before. Quote
abcdefg Posted April 6, 2010 at 02:07 AM Report Posted April 6, 2010 at 02:07 AM So people could check and view the books on our site to get some reference, and then buy from other sources. I recently went to your website to purchase some books, but when I found the complicated and time-consuming payment instructions, I bought the books from Dangdang and Amazon instead. If you had a more convenient way to pay for purchases made inside China, I'll bet your business would improve. I mean this as a constructive suggestion. Quote
elina Posted April 6, 2010 at 02:21 PM Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 at 02:21 PM Thanks for the constructive suggestion. Yes, at present for customers inside China, we only list bank transfer method, which is time-consuming, no online payment method. We thought to directly accept credit card on our site, and discovered it is very complicated to do so in mainland China. Afterwards, we found some customers inside China who don’t want to take the trouble to go to the bank, choose to use PayPal online payment method when placing their orders, which was planned to be used by overseas customers. Most of our customers are foreigners, most of them have PayPal accounts, so we think it’s a way to solve this problem before we could accept credit card online payment, although not very ideally. After seeing your post, we have added a clear reminder of accepting domestic customers to pay through PayPal on our site. Thanks again. Quote
abcdefg Posted April 6, 2010 at 03:18 PM Report Posted April 6, 2010 at 03:18 PM Offering PayPal to domestic customers is a great idea. That would make it much easier for me to buy from you in the future. Quote

Chinadoog Posted April 7, 2010 at 11:56 AM Report Posted April 7, 2010 at 11:56 AM Just for clarification - can I order the Chinese Breeze books off of your site tonight? Quote
elina Posted April 7, 2010 at 12:11 PM Author Report Posted April 7, 2010 at 12:11 PM (edited) Best of luck whatever you do Thanks, Roddy. Are you sure you really mean that? As mentioned here, one of the things I want to do is to prepare my future forum, and one part of it will be made to beat the Chinese corner on your forum can I order the Chinese Breeze books off of your site tonight? Of course you can, as mentioned in my first post: We only sell the DVDs & books (and other books in the same series) on our homepage, as well as in this category: http://www.studychineseculture.com/class.asp?fid=265&sid=515&tid=0 Chinese Breeze books are on our homepage and also in that category, they’re one of our best sellers. flameproof Posted June 17, 2010 at 09:19 AM Report Posted June 17, 2010 at 09:19 AM Regarding the famous Chinese Breeze Graded Readers Series, there will be altogether over 60 books at 8 language levels planned to be printed step by step, till now only 12 book are out, we will trace each new book and upload it to our site at the very first time. ...and if they keep their publishing speed the last volume of Chinese Breeze will be out before the end of 2100.... They got Level 2 complete. Form there it will be easy to jump to other books, or just get youth readers which are for Chinese 10 year olds. If you look at books that are written from and for Chinese there is plenty of stuff on the market. Really plenty. Quote
elina Posted June 17, 2010 at 11:30 AM Author Report Posted June 17, 2010 at 11:30 AM Yes, the speed is much slower than their expecting, the fact is that the authors are very busy, each person may at the same time have several books to write for several different publishers… The last book of Level 2 一张旧画 will be out early next month, so altogether there will be 7 books at level 2: http://www.studychineseculture.com/search.asp?keyword=Chinese+Breeze+Graded+Reader+Series+Level+2%3A+++&thetype=bookname&submit1=SEARCH Currently there’s no exact time schedule when Level 3 book is released. elina Posted February 7, 2014 at 08:28 AM Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 at 08:28 AM Because someone asked me if our site is still working or not, I just remembered this topic and would like to make it clear that our site has been normally running years ago, because my operative wound was recovered at the end of 2010, as mentioned in my blog, so I could work full time since 2011. During the whole and hard treatment process, I was deeply impressed by the traditional Chinese therapy, so this year I will add those relative products to our site as a new category to sell online. roddy Posted February 7, 2014 at 09:34 AM Report Posted February 7, 2014 at 09:34 AM For anyone who doesn't know the site, it's been running for many years (maybe as many as we have? When did you start, Elina?) and plenty of our members have used it to get China-published books shipped overseas. Quote
elina Posted February 7, 2014 at 10:03 AM Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 at 10:03 AM “maybe as many as we have? When did you start, Elina?” No, you’re elder than me, 老大 Actually I started my website at the end of 2004 with an ugly template site, but some of our customers emailed me to say it was painful to surf on our site, which made me redesigned our site in 2006, and after that, some of our customers emailed me to say the site is awesome Quote
roddy Posted February 7, 2014 at 10:30 AM Report Posted February 7, 2014 at 10:30 AM We're a little older then. Make sure you respect your elders ;-) Quote
kikosun Posted February 7, 2014 at 10:49 PM Report Posted February 7, 2014 at 10:49 PM Good luck with your business. Sorry to hear you are reducing size. Took a look around, and you have some great stuff, I just never heard of your website when I was first getting started. Quote
gato Posted February 8, 2014 at 03:43 AM Report Posted February 8, 2014 at 03:43 AM Elina, good to know that you are doing so well. Maybe you can edit the original post and title to explain that you are operating normally now and that this is old information from 2010. Quote
elina Posted February 8, 2014 at 07:14 AM Author Report Posted February 8, 2014 at 07:14 AM Make sure you respect your elders ;-) Yes sir, respected and honorable Roddy Good luck with your business. Sorry to hear you are reducing size. Took a look around, and you have some great stuff, I just never heard of your website when I was first getting started. Kikosun, thank you for your kindness. The first post in this topic was written in April, 2010, and I was recovered from the disease at the end of 2010, and our business was already back to normal in 2011, i.e., all the books (more than 5000) on our site are available to be bought since 2011. Maybe you can edit the original post and title to explain that you are operating normally now and that this is old information from 2010. Gato, a good idea, I just edited the first post and the title. You’re always so thoughtful and constructive, the other day when I read the book of 乐嘉’s 性格色彩, I thought you’re 蓝色, and Roddy is 红色+黄色, thank you for all of your and others help and many good suggestions from I came to these forums years ago, great forums! And I have learned a lot from here, and will use it in the future, when I search for and make posts on new-found English forums focused on traditional Chinese therapy to study how to express our new products well. roddy Posted February 10, 2014 at 10:27 AM Report Posted February 10, 2014 at 10:27 AM Roddy is 红色+黄色 - makes me sound like a Communist pornographer. Sorry to hear you've got the blues, Gato... Quote
