skylee Posted April 5, 2010 at 03:32 PM Report Posted April 5, 2010 at 03:32 PM We are having this five-day holiday and I had run out of film options so I saw 月滿軒尼詩 this evening, and what a very delightful film. I had not expected to enjoy it but it turned out to be very nice. Hennessy Road, and also Johnston, Lockhart, Fleming, Gloucester Roads, and all those footbridges, are where I walk on almost everyday. And the film depicts the Wanchai District nicely (it does not show any bars/clubs though). The film is very Hong Kong, and I like it for this. The director's first film was 親密. While I found that film to be well-made and the director had obviously tried very hard, it was painfully slow and boring (I think the director wanted to be deep and thus forgot about the audience). She has shown great progress in this Hennessy film, which is at least enjoyable. And the film features Jacky Cheung and Tang Wei (of Lust Caution fame). Trailer -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1Z7yhCW4QA PS - there were three Japanese viewers in my row and at the end I heard the youngster told the older couple おもしろかった. I suppose it was not too bad even for foreign audience. Quote
Lu Posted April 19, 2010 at 08:55 AM Report Posted April 19, 2010 at 08:55 AM I'm very glad to see that Tang Wei hasn't had her career killed after all! Will keep this movie in mind. Quote
