Last_Diagnosis Posted April 9, 2010 at 07:05 PM Report Posted April 9, 2010 at 07:05 PM I recommend that you could use “设立办事处”, for "设立" is used when refer to the set up of a branch office, while "创建" or "创立" implies that it is the main body of a company or institution to be created, as in "我公司创立于2002年" or “该学院创立于1850年” "分处" is not bad, however, it is rarely used in China, especially in the mailand, and it may cause some misunderstanding. Well, I don't know if my explanation satisfied you, for my English is not so good as your Chinese. You could send me an email if you have further questions ^_^ Quote
Sarevok Posted April 9, 2010 at 07:07 PM Report Posted April 9, 2010 at 07:07 PM The first one sounds the best to my ears (only based on my 语感, as they are not native speaker's ears). Google also gives most results for the first one... Quote
Glenn Posted April 9, 2010 at 07:35 PM Report Posted April 9, 2010 at 07:35 PM I was wondering, since I'm most used to seeing 辦公室 used for "office," what the difference was between that and 辦事處. From what I can tell, they're basically the same. Is there a regional difference as to which is preferred, or is there some appreciable difference in meaning that I'm not seeing? Quote
Sarevok Posted April 9, 2010 at 08:51 PM Report Posted April 9, 2010 at 08:51 PM As I understand it, 办公室 is a simple office (like various offices at an university, each for handling specific tasks) and 办事处 is more like a "delegated office", e.g. Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, the de facto embassy of ROC, is called 駐捷克台北經濟文化辦事處 (in my country) Quote
Glenn Posted April 9, 2010 at 09:41 PM Report Posted April 9, 2010 at 09:41 PM Ah, OK. Looking back at the definitions, it seems like that's what they were saying. I just wasn't quite getting it. Thanks for clearing that up for me! Quote
doraemon Posted April 9, 2010 at 10:29 PM Report Posted April 9, 2010 at 10:29 PM I'd recommend using "设立办事处" as well, it sounds the best in the situation you're talking about. Quote
Kenny同志 Posted April 10, 2010 at 09:50 AM Report Posted April 10, 2010 at 09:50 AM I'd recommend the first one too. 设立办事处 Quote
