cooker Posted April 11, 2010 at 03:37 AM Report Share Posted April 11, 2010 at 03:37 AM Hiya - Storm surges in the North Pacific have deposited an unexpected surplus of Asian debris along the pac coast of the USA this year. Plastic floats from China and the coveted glass floats from Japan have been more common than I have ever experienced on the Oregon coast. I have been collecting and researching the debris that washes ashore here from other countries for a short several years and have some remaining translation issues that I would love to have solved here. The attached images are of bottle caps collected in the past 2 years - I would be thankful for any information on product name, type, country, language (type), etc. for these unidentified caps. Please understand that not all of the caps are Chinese; there are other Asian countries represented. Thank you in advance Eric
Glenn Posted April 11, 2010 at 04:09 PM Report Share Posted April 11, 2010 at 04:09 PM The first picture, top right (爽健美) is a type of tea sold in Japan that's sold by Coca-Cola Japan. Below that one is the フィン (Fin) one, and I don't see anything on that other than that it means "fin" by doing a quick Google search. The fourth picture, top right, Coca-Cola bottle cap says "open" underneath it (あける), and the rest seems to be English (it's a bit hard to make out). The third picture, top left, is 生茶 -- a brand of green tea sold by Kirin Beverage in Japan. As for the Chinese ones, I'll leave them for the forum's more experiences Chinese speakers and native speakers. Also, I saw at least one Korean one.
cooker Posted April 12, 2010 at 03:23 AM Author Report Share Posted April 12, 2010 at 03:23 AM Thank you very much for your efforts. I have found Kirin drinks before, but didn't make the connection with that one.
