as a follow-up to the 骑车 discussion in the grammar section, I was reminded of the variety of light vehicles I saw in Beijing

So 骑车 could refer to 摩托车,自行车/脚踏车. Could it also refer to 三轮车 if you are the driver? if you are the client?

Is a tricycle with a motor and no passenger seat (see photo) also a 三轮车? or does it have another name?

What about a moped? a scooter?

yellowbridge results for scooter:

机车 jīchē locomotive; train engine car; scooter

滑板车 huábǎnchē scooter

踏板车 tàbǎn chē scooter

电单车 diàndānchē scooter

机踏车 jītàchē scooter

what's the difference?

What about circus unicycles?

What do you call a fruit seller's wheelbarrow? (the ones I saw had at least two wheels, I'm quite certain there must be 1, 3,4 wheel version, how do you say "a 4 wheeled wheelbarrow" etc.)

E. (following random curiosity instead of studying seriously)

骑车 refers to 自行车,(because Chinese transport was bicycle-based) if you want to say you are driving a certain kind of light vehicle, you should say their name, like"骑三轮车""骑摩托车".
