This is a new song sung by Eason Chan. I like the music, and the words are quite good. And the MV is quite interesting.

似有還無, 欲斷難斷 and 難以捨割 sound romantic only when you are not part of the game. On the other hand complete freedom is good but then it could be lonely.

一絲不掛

曲:Christopher Chak

Though I am among the 90% forum members whose Chinese proficiency is worse than you (呵呵人貴自知), it is quite clear to me that the song is about unwanted attachment. My interpretation of the 絲 here is that as in 藕斷絲連 (this term can of course be used to describe lotus root the veggie, just as 一絲不掛 usually means naked). A catchy song title helps the sale. Google has also given me some more information -

一絲不掛,語出《楞嚴經》:「一絲不掛,竿木隨身。」意思是釣魚人雖然釣竿隨身,釣絲上空無一物;後來用以比喻人雖活於世上,當無所牽掛,不為塵俗所牽累。(source)

I was kidding, I certainly know what is the song about, I'm not that foolish to think Chenyixun is telling something about being naked.

But, 一丝不挂 has a meaning of being naked, do you agree? By the way, I'd say my Chinese is better than 95% of the members in this forum, not 90%.:tong

Yes you are the best among us all.

承让了...8)

I think I'm a modest guy and I alway stay humble, I'm not to show off anything because I don't actually have anything to show off. All I did or am doing is what I think are right. So whatever you think I am, I am what I am.

Really? You are better at Chinese than 95% of the members? If really, then you would not need to read my posting below. Then you should have wrote up what I wrote below, too?!

一丝不挂...means naked

No. It doesn't just mean "naked" [clothing or other materials might still be seen as used to cover up certain areas: a person could be naked under the sheets, but only a part of the body is seen, etc...]. It means either "nude" or "stark naked"[This means nothing is covered at all and everything can be seen]. In English, 一丝不挂 can also be used to translate "To be in one's birthday suit".

@trien27: Thanks for your write up. I never mind someone correct my fault.

If I was expaining the phrase, the answer was too simple. That's all.

Yes, that's my visa. And I had been working for 3 years before came to Aus, so I don't think I'm a pure student, I love studying though.

Wow, your English is incredibly good in that case. :clap Did you learn all of it in China or did you study in an English speaking country prior coming to Australia?

Thanks, I leant English in China by myself. I had never been to a English speaking country before. Now I've been in Aus for 5 months. Maybe I'm not as good as you think, my speaking and listening still need a lot to improve.

When I saw 11 replies before I came in I thought it must be a really very good song. Well it is still a nice song but it seems that only one out of the 11 is actually about it, which is a bit of a shame, and not surprisingly, the lyrics is by 林夕 again...
