Yeah, Gmail still has problems with simplified Chinese. It's a real pain actually. You can only view the Chinese by choosing "view original message" i.e. with all the headers and stuff, and then selecting GB encoding. You can't see it in your normal conversation views, regardless of the encoding you set your browser to. Then when you reply to a message, you get garbage characters quoted in the reply, and so have to manually cut and paste from the above mentioned "original message" - but then you don't get the nice automatic quote marks, and the nice auto-hide that Gmail normally does.

A bit of a hassle really, but Gmail is far and away superior to any other free web-based email. The UI absolutely rocks... :-D
