imron Posted April 28, 2010 at 03:23 AM Report Posted April 28, 2010 at 03:23 AM (edited) Just a heads up for anyone living in Melbourne, Australia, you can no longer apply for visas at the Chinese Consulate. Instead, you need to go to a new visa application service center on St. Kilda Rd. See their webpage here. I went to collect a visa today and it seems I was in one of the last batches of visas to be processed by the Consulate. Anyone not arriving with a pink collection slip was being turned away, and redirected to the service center instead. Edited April 28, 2010 at 03:33 AM by imron Quote
chrix Posted April 28, 2010 at 05:07 PM Report Posted April 28, 2010 at 05:07 PM and according to the website, the same in Sydney... maybe we should rename the thread as "Applying for Chinese Visas in Australia" Quote
imron Posted April 28, 2010 at 11:23 PM Author Report Posted April 28, 2010 at 11:23 PM maybe we should rename the thread as "Applying for Chinese Visas in Australia"Maybe, but according to the brochure I was given explaining the change, Sydney has had a separate visa center for a while. My post was referring specifically to the situation in Melbourne which has just changed in the last day or two. Quote
adrianlondon Posted April 29, 2010 at 10:29 AM Report Posted April 29, 2010 at 10:29 AM They appear to be doing that everywhere. I assume there's a "visa service fee" added on to the cost of the visa? Quote
imron Posted April 29, 2010 at 11:14 PM Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 at 11:14 PM Yep, the price of a single-entry tourist visa has basically doubled (AUD$40 to AUD$78.50). Quote
