Accommodation in Beijing for Students

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am planning to study in either Beijing Language and Culture University or Tsinghua University (also in Beijing) next September 2010 and I am not sure about what is the best option of accommodation I should choose.

First of all: I do not mind sharing an apartment or staying in a dorm but I need a single bedroom with private bathroom.

I have read that University dorms in BLCU are not a good option as the facilities are very old, it is not easy to get a single bedroom and bathrooms are shared.

Can someone who has been there tell me about this?

However, I have not read about University dorms in Tsinghua. Does anybody know anything?

I do not know if the Campus is very far from the city center, and in case they are, maybe I should live outside Campus in order to enjoy life in the city also...

As you can see, I do not have a lot of information and would be pleased if someone can help with information, urls, etc.

Regards.

hey,

I study in beijing yuyan daxue.Have been living outside, but can say that dorm number 17 is new and you can get a single room. Its 3600 kuai per month(other buildings are cheaper as quality is worse). My friends never got a problem with finding an empty one.

You can also easily find an apartment if you just live at a hotel or sth for few days while you search through the agencies or ads.

Hello, El Ranchero :)

Thank you very much for your answer. When I read the reviews that other people wrote about the dorms I got really scared!! but I will try to get a room in dorm 17. I do not mind paying more but I need a comfortable place to live.

So you said I can get a single room with private bathroom and the price is 3500 yuan per month?

Do you have to pay extra money for internet or other expenses (electricity, etc)?

And do you have washing machine, kitchen, etc?

Thank you very much for your very useful help.

Yeah 3600 kuai per month. As far as i know they just pay extra for internet(60 kuai or sth). There are laundry roooms and kitchens in every floor for public use. They were clean whenever i saw them.

Btw,when i first came dorms were all supposedly full, like they wait for a week for everyone who reserved to show up then see from there. So,you might wanna reserve it ahead.
