prenticd Posted April 30, 2010 at 11:51 AM Report Posted April 30, 2010 at 11:51 AM Hello. I was just wondering if anyone on here is considering applying to go to 人大 for the fall semester. If anyone has experience of studying at 人大please could you leave some comments regarding the course, accommodation, university life etc, that would be great! Also what does everyone think of 人大 as a university as a whole? Does it have a good reputation? I will also apply to Qinghua. At the moment just weighing up the pro con of both Quote
rivercao Posted May 2, 2010 at 02:07 AM Report Posted May 2, 2010 at 02:07 AM What course will you take? My brother is studying in Renda now, his major is French. I think Renda has better language courses than Qinghua, Qinghua is specialised at Science and engineering. Renmin U has a best location in Beijing, its located at a Zhongguancun, Haidian district. It has students dormitary and also you can rent apartment near school. You can choose Beijing University as well, it's better than Renmin University. Quote
kongli Posted June 22, 2010 at 03:42 AM Report Posted June 22, 2010 at 03:42 AM Hey! I am going to RenDa in the fall to start a Masters program in modern Chinese history. I don't know much about the student life but I do know RenDa is a top school in China for the humanities. If you are studying any of the hard sciences I would suggest going to Qinghua but for anything in the social sciences I think RenDa is a probably better. Anyway, sorry I couldn't tell you more info but I am excited to know more upon arrival. I look at it as an adventure, its not as fun if you know everything before embarking on it. hehe. Kongli Quote
Brian US Posted July 20, 2010 at 01:59 PM Report Posted July 20, 2010 at 01:59 PM I'll be starting at Renmin on scholarship for a year of Chinese and then a Masters in accounting. I've spent the last year in Wudaokou at BLCU and haven't even been to the campus of RenDa. Any advice would be great! Quote
Tian Li Posted July 25, 2010 at 04:37 PM Report Posted July 25, 2010 at 04:37 PM I went to Remin U on an International Summer School in June/July 2009. It's got a nice campus, just small enough to walk around comfortably everywhere. It has a the very popular English corner every Friday at the East gate, which attracts numerous Chinese practicing their English. It is also really well placed. With the new line, the subway is right outside the gate. I haven't been to other Uni's, but I found Renda pretty cool. My dorm, the international one, wasn't that excellent though, but apparently they upgraded it since I was there. Quote
Jaikuz Posted March 22, 2011 at 10:26 PM Report Posted March 22, 2011 at 10:26 PM Hi everyone! Do you know about the wifi connection on renmin university? I was wondering if I could use my laptop there using wifi with high speed internet and if facebook or other webs are closed. Do you know also if you are able to download some music or other stuff? thanks in advice! Quote
Brian US Posted March 23, 2011 at 03:54 AM Report Posted March 23, 2011 at 03:54 AM They do have wifi on campus, but it is slow. You will need a VPN to access blocked sites. It is easy to download stuff, but be ready to leave your computer on overnight to watch a movie. Zhongguancun is one of the biggest electronics district where you can go for video games and it is just two blocks north of campus. 1 Quote
