Can someone one tell me how to say these in Chinese (Mandarin) (pinyin i think is what i want, so i can speak them) Do you want to dance? This is the last time i will see you for 3 months. A friend of mine is leaving for a while and there is a party tonight. Quote
trien27 Posted May 15, 2010 at 11:09 PM Report Posted May 15, 2010 at 11:09 PM Do you want to dance? This is the last time i will see you for 3 months. "Do you want to dance?" = Nin xiang tiao wu ma? or Qingwen keyi pei wo tiao yi zhi wu ma? or Wo men tiao wu ba! [literally, = Let's Dance! I hate typing in "women" for "we/us", people will confuse it for the English word "women"! therefore, I've separated into "wo" & "men"(this is not the English word) separated by a space] "This is the last time I will see you for 3 months." = Guo le jingwan, jiu yao deng sangeyue cai keyi jiandao ni le! "Last time" doesn't translate good in Chinese, due to taboo: "Last time" = You won't be able to see the person forever after this meeting: AKA at the funeral only. Quote
Shi Tong Posted May 16, 2010 at 11:11 AM Report Posted May 16, 2010 at 11:11 AM Hello!! In the phrase "jingwan" do you mean 今 jīn 晚 wǎn? Omitting tones will possibly also make it harder! ;) I would say: 你想跟我跳舞吗 nǐxiǎnggēnwǒtiàowǔmǎ? nǐ xiǎng gēn wǒ tiào wǔ mǎ? (as seperated pinyin for each and every zi) Literally translates as "you want with me dance ma(question ?)" I would also say this is pretty good: Guo le jingwan, jiu yao deng sangeyue cai keyi jiandao ni le! though, as mentioned above, I think jingwan is supposed to be jinwan. Tones and characters for this pinyin are: 过了今晚, 就要等三个月才可以见到你了 guòlejīnwǎn, jiùyàoděngsāngèyuècáikěyǐjiàndàonǐle. guò le jīn wǎn, jiù yào děng sān gè yuè cái kě yǐ jiàn dào nǐ le. Literally translates as "after tonight, have (to) wait three ge months to be able to see you le." I might use 看 kàn instead of 见 jiàn here, but both are totally acceptable, and I would say 见 jiàn means to meet as well as see, whereas 看 kàn just means look or see. Hope these help. err.. also, help it's not too late already ;) Quote
