Studying (With A Scholarship) And Working Part-Time

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have applied a scholarship for 1 year studies in China. I also might have a possibility to work half-time. Does anyone know if this is possible? What I have understood is that I would get a student visa (x) and then residents permit. What if I get Z visa instead. Am I still allowed to study at the university, live in the dorm etc.?

Thanks for your help.

I see no replies here, however I'm having kinda the same dilemma and would like to hear some opinions :)

Does the residence permit allow you to work or is it "only" good for entering China as many times as you want?

A Z visa is an entry visa to take up a specific pre-arranged (almost always full time) job. It must be changed to a residence permit within 30 days. The validity of that  residence permit is dependent on you remaining in the same employment. So, a Z-visa doesn't seem to apply to your circumstances nor is it likely to be issued.

Technically, you aren't allowed to work while your status is that of a student. In practice, blind eyes are usually turned.
