a_j Posted May 16, 2010 at 06:32 PM Report Posted May 16, 2010 at 06:32 PM Hi everyone, I have applied a scholarship for 1 year studies in China. I also might have a possibility to work half-time. Does anyone know if this is possible? What I have understood is that I would get a student visa (x) and then residents permit. What if I get Z visa instead. Am I still allowed to study at the university, live in the dorm etc.? Thanks for your help. Quote
esz Posted September 25, 2010 at 03:54 PM Report Posted September 25, 2010 at 03:54 PM I see no replies here, however I'm having kinda the same dilemma and would like to hear some opinions Does the residence permit allow you to work or is it "only" good for entering China as many times as you want? liuzhou Posted September 25, 2010 at 04:11 PM Report Posted September 25, 2010 at 04:11 PM What if I get Z visa instead A Z visa is an entry visa to take up a specific pre-arranged (almost always full time) job. It must be changed to a residence permit within 30 days. The validity of that residence permit is dependent on you remaining in the same employment. So, a Z-visa doesn't seem to apply to your circumstances nor is it likely to be issued. Technically, you aren't allowed to work while your status is that of a student. In practice, blind eyes are usually turned. Quote
