In Taiwan, I've heard people use that structure all the time, especially with the word 慢. Here are some examples:

[pop=tromp/mànmànzǒu]慢慢走[/pop]-everybody says that when you leave their store/restaurant/whatever

[pop=at/zài]在[/pop][pop=night market/yèshì]夜市[/pop][pop=wants/yào]要[/pop][pop=slowly/mànmàndi]慢慢地[/pop][pop=chose/tiāo]挑[/pop]=You have to chose things carefully at the nightmarket (or be ripped off).

[pop=tall/gāogāo]高高[/pop][pop=thin/shòu shòu]瘦瘦[/pop][pop=/de]的[/pop][pop=that one/nèigè]那個[/pop][pop=foreigners/lǎowài]老外[/pop]=That tall and skinny foreigner.
