Brian US Posted May 20, 2010 at 10:02 AM Report Posted May 20, 2010 at 10:02 AM I noticed there were a few threads about pets in China, but I was more curious about the registration fee. 1000 kuai seems pretty steep, along with the 500 each year after. Is this only for foreigners? In my neighborhood every other apartment has a dog and I can't see many Chinese families spending so much on a pet. I assume they don't get their dogs registered and if not, how much trouble do you get in for not registering? Any other tips would be great! *Edit My teacher gave me a few pointers to having a dog in Beijing. According to her, if the landlord doesn't have a problem, there is no need to register. She also warned against many people stealing dogs, but I don't know how much of a problem this is if you leash/dog is by your side. For the record, I respect the laws of the People's Republic of China and would immediately register a dog. Quote
