jbradfor Posted May 21, 2010 at 09:11 PM Report Share Posted May 21, 2010 at 09:11 PM "才疏学浅", oooh, that's a good phrase for me. Maybe I should get that as a tattoo? But in traditional, of course.

renzhe Posted May 22, 2010 at 12:01 PM Report Share Posted May 22, 2010 at 12:01 PM Doesn't 拼 here stand for 拼命? To me, it implies a battle to the death, when someone is really angry.

You got it. But how do you say this in English? It's usually used by someone, especially a person who is smaller or weaker when he or she is furious with bullying or injustice. tooironic Posted May 23, 2010 at 02:18 AM Report Share Posted May 23, 2010 at 02:18 AM I'm not sure either but somehow it reminds me of "我要揍你", in English often expressed as "I'll go you!"

"我要揍你"less than “我和你拼了", maybe"拼命三郎" more suitable
anonymoose Posted May 23, 2010 at 06:56 AM Report Share Posted May 23, 2010 at 06:56 AM How would 大不了就拼了 be translated into English?
tooironic Posted May 23, 2010 at 08:24 AM Report Share Posted May 23, 2010 at 08:24 AM @Gavin yang: What do you mean "less than"? @anonymoose: I suppose you could translate 大不了就拼了 as "I'll risk my life if worst comes to worst."
