Doesn't 拼 here stand for 拼命? To me, it implies a battle to the death, when someone is really angry.

You got it. But how do you say this in English? It's usually used by someone, especially a person who is smaller or weaker when he or she is furious with bullying or injustice.

@anonymoose: I suppose you could translate 大不了就拼了 as "I'll risk my life if worst comes to worst."
